Applications
Acoradiene (CAS 24048-44-0) is a sesquiterpene hydrocarbon present in Acorus (sweet flag) essential oil and other aroma sources; it is used mainly as a fragrance ingredient and odor modulator imparting warm woody–spicy facets in perfumes, soaps, and personal-care products; as a reference/marker in GC–MS for standardization, traceability, and quality control of essential oils; as a starting material for semi-synthesis of terpenoid derivatives to tune odor profile and stability; and as a standard in biochemical/natural-products research on sesquiterpene biosynthesis, metabolism, and potential bioactivities (e.g., antimicrobial, insect-repellent, antioxidant), typically at R&D scale and not as an active pharmaceutical ingredient.
