Tributyl 2-acetylcitrate (CAS 77-90-7) is a non-phthalate plasticizer with high biocompatibility that is added to PVC, PU, cellulose acetate and synthetic rubber to improve flexibility, impact strength and low-temperature performance of medical tubing, food wrap, bottle caps, gloves, cables, coatings and printing inks; because of its low odor, neutral taste and biodegradability it is also used in pharmaceutical packaging, IV sets, injectables, cosmetics, nail polish, pressure-sensitive adhesives, as well as a flavor carrier in nutraceuticals and veterinary drugs.
