Applications
7-Methyl-3-methylene-6-octen-1-ol (CAS 13066-51-8), commonly known as myrcenol, is a monoterpene alcohol with a fresh citrus–green, lightly floral odor; it is used mainly as a fragrance ingredient in fine fragrances, personal care, soaps, detergents, and home care to add brightness, diffusion, and depth, and it serves as an intermediate for producing valuable aroma chemicals such as dihydromyrcenol, myrcenyl acetate, and related esters; additionally, it functions as a terpene building block and is employed in flavor and fragrance research at trace levels for green–citrus accents, as well as an analytical reference/benchmark in quality control of myrcene-rich natural materials.
