Applications
3,7-Dimethyloct-6-en-3-ol (CAS 18479-51-1, commonly known as dihydrolinalool) is widely applied as a fragrance ingredient in fine fragrances, soaps, shampoos/body washes, deodorants, laundry detergents and fabric care, as well as hard-surface cleaners and household care, providing a fresh citrus–floral (muguet) character with good diffusion and stability in alkaline/oxidative systems; it is also used in air care formats (aerosols, candles, reed diffusers) and malodor counteractant blends, serves as an intermediate for perfumery esters such as dihydrolinalyl acetate and other terpenoid derivatives to build citrus, green and marine accords, and at very low dosage may be used as a flavoring in foods and beverages where permitted, appreciated for formulation compatibility and a favorable safety/biodegradability profile.
