  • Applications

    3,4-dihydro-2H-pyran is commonly used in organic synthesis as a reactive solvent and, more importantly, as a protecting-group reagent for alcohols, forming dihydropyranyl (DHP) ethers that can be removed by acid; it is also often employed as an intermediate or reagent in pharmaceutical and fine chemical manufacturing.
