Its extreme chemical inertness, oxidative and thermal stability, and very low surface energy make it suitable for dielectric and heat-transfer applications in electronics and electrical equipment, as well as for lubricating bearings, gears, and precision instruments under harsh conditions. The compound is also evaluated for use in cleanroom and semiconductor processing environments as a low-outgassing lubricant or processing aid, and can serve as a protective coating or sealant in chemically demanding equipment. In addition, PFPE derivatives are explored as specialty lubricants and processing aids in polymer and plastics manufacturing, where their compatibility with diverse materials helps reduce wear and contamination.
