Applications
2,6-Naphthalenedicarboxylic acid (CAS 1141-38-4) is used primarily as a diacid monomer or dianhydride precursor for high-performance polymers, notably polyimides, which provide excellent thermal stability and mechanical strength for electronics, automotive, and aerospace components. It also serves as a building block for aromatic polyesters and other resin systems used in coatings and films. As a chemical intermediate, it is employed in the synthesis of specialty functionalized naphthalene derivatives and related materials. In addition, it can be used in high-temperature adhesives and composite matrix resins.
