Applications
2,6-Diisopropyl-3-methylphenol is primarily used as a hindered phenolic antioxidant and stabilizer in polymer and resin formulations, helping to prevent thermal-oxidative degradation in plastics, coatings and inks during processing and service. It is also employed as a stabilizer in rubbers/elastomers and in lubricant base oils to improve oxidative resistance. In industrial manufacturing it can serve as an intermediate or building block for organic synthesis. It may be evaluated for use in cosmetics/personal care formulations as an antioxidant additive, and is sometimes considered for use in adhesives and sealants where oxidative stability is desired, all subject to local regulations and formulation limits.
