  • Applications

2,4-Dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (CAS 94-75-7) is the active ingredient in selective post-emergence herbicides used to control broadleaf weeds. In agriculture, it targets broadleaf competitors in cereal crops and pastures while sparing grasses. In turf management and residential lawn care, it is formulated for selective weed suppression. It is also widely used in forestry and woodland management to reduce competition from broadleaf species during site establishment and maintenance. For rights-of-way and industrial vegetation control, it is applied to manage growth around infrastructure. In formulation practice, 2,4-Dichlorophenoxyacetic acid is supplied as salts or esters and is often combined in multi-ingredient herbicide products to broaden efficacy or spectrum. It may also serve as an intermediate or building block in the synthesis of related herbicides and plant-growth-regulating chemistries.
