Applications
2-Pinen-10-yl isobutyrate (CAS 29021-37-2) is a terpene ester with a fresh pine–woody odour, used as a fragrance ingredient in fine fragrances, cosmetics, cleaners, and air-care products (candles, wax melts, reed diffusers), where it lifts top-to-mid notes with piney/resinous, slightly fruity–green nuances and helps tune evaporation due to its medium volatility; it is applied across personal care and household formulations to convey clean, natural freshness; occasionally used at trace levels in flavor formulations to add piney/woody/fruity facets subject to regional regulations; also employed as a synthetic intermediate in terpene chemistry to access other aroma derivatives, as an analytical reference, and in research on controlled-release scent systems (microencapsulation, polymer matrices); stabilization with antioxidants, protection from light/metals, IFRA and allergen compliance checks, and packaging/formulation compatibility testing are recommended.
