Applications
2-Methylbutyl methacrylate (CAS 60608-94-8) is a methacrylate monomer used as a co-monomer and reactive diluent for acrylic resins, adhesives, and coatings; it lowers Tg and imparts flexibility, impact resistance, adhesion, and hydrophobicity to copolymers, enabling use in pressure-sensitive adhesives (enhanced tack/peel/shear), elastomeric sealants, automotive/architectural coatings, high-gloss inks and varnishes, UV/EB-curable and 3D-printing photopolymers where it reduces viscosity and improves toughness; it also serves as a performance modifier for modified plastics, electronics conformal coatings and potting, adhesion promotion to metals and plastics, and binders for textiles–paper–leather; typically blended with other (meth)acrylates to balance hardness–toughness–clarity, enable low-temperature film formation, and optimize the chemical and weather resistance characteristic of acrylics.
