  • Applications

2-Ethylhexyl acetate (CAS 103-09-3) is a branched-chain ester with moderate volatility and a pleasant fruity odor, widely used as a solvent for nitrocellulose and acrylic automotive coatings, printing inks, varnishes and adhesives to enhance flow, open time and gloss; in plastics and rubber processing it acts as a secondary plasticizer, color carrier and processing aid for PVC, PU and engineering polymers; in fragrance formulation it serves as a note modifier and carrier in perfumes and household cleaners; it is also employed as an intermediate for pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals, and as a slow-evaporating component of metal-cleaning or degreasing solvents that helps reduce VOC emissions compared with traditional solvents.
