Applications
2-Cyclohexen-1-ol, 1-methyl-4-(1-methylethyl)-, (1R,4S)-rel- (CAS 29803-81-4) is a chiral terpenoid alcohol used mainly as an intermediate and stereodefined building block in organic synthesis: to access p-menthane/monoterpene derivatives (e.g., esters, ethers, menthol analogs), to enable stereoselective routes, and to embed a cyclohexenol motif into target molecules; in fragrance-flavor and personal care R&D it serves as an aroma ingredient candidate and as a pro-fragrance precursor via derivatization to tune volatility and stability; in pharmaceutical and agrochemical discovery it can be employed as a monoterpene probe for bioactivity screening or for tuning ADME properties; it is also used as an analytical reference standard for GC/GC-MS and chiral chromatography, as a teaching sample for stereochemistry, and as a substrate for studying allylic alcohol reactivity.
