    2-Cyclohexen-1-ol, 1-methyl-4-(1-methylethyl)-, (1R,4S)-rel-, CAS 82796-01-8 is a chiral monoterpenoid alcohol used and studied in: fragrance, personal care, and home-care formulations as a modifier of fresh, woody–herbal, slightly minty notes and as a fixative to extend longevity; trace-level flavoring and as a precursor to odor-active esters via controlled esterification (subject to applicable regulations and purity); a synthetic intermediate to access the p-menthane/menthol framework and derivatives via hydrogenation, oxidation, epoxidation, and rearrangements, also serving as a chiral-pool building block for asymmetric synthesis; a bio-based solvent/co-solvent and coalescent in inks, coatings, adhesives, and certain electronics/ceramics formulations (e.g., solder pastes, tape casting) owing to its high boiling point and slow evaporation; and as an analytical reference, sensory standard, and R&D probe for antimicrobial/deodorizing performance, where the (1R,4S)-rel stereochemistry can strongly influence odor and activity.
