Applications
2-Cyclohexen-1-ol, 1-methyl-4-(1-methylethyl)-, (1R,4R)-rel- (CAS 29803-82-5) is a monoterpenoid alcohol with a p-menthane scaffold, used as a fragrance/flavor ingredient and aroma intermediate in perfumes, flavors, and cosmetics; as an enantiomerically defined chiral building block in organic synthesis (e.g., selective hydrogenation to saturated menthane-type alcohols, oxidation to related enones, and esterification to fragrance esters); as a GC/GC–MS reference standard for method development and stereoisomer separation, for sensory–stereochemistry studies, and as an intermediate toward terpenoids and p-menthane–bearing molecules at laboratory and fine-chemical scales.
