Applications
1,4-Nonanediol diacetate (CAS 67715-81-5) is primarily used as a chemical building block in industrial polymer synthesis and as a plasticizer/processing aid to impart flexibility to resin systems. As a bifunctional diester, it can be hydrolyzed to 1,4-nonanediol and subsequently converted into polyols for polyurethane and polyester resins, or used directly as a reactive diluent in coatings and inks. In coatings formulations, it can serve as a crosslinking precursor or coupling intermediate, enhancing film formation and adhesion. It is also employed as an intermediate in the synthesis of specialty monomers for adhesives and sealants, and may be evaluated as a solvent or processing additive in certain cleaning formulations, depending on formulation constraints and regulatory considerations.
