  • Applications

11-Aminoundecanoic acid (CAS 2432-99-7) is a key monomer for nylon-11 (polyamide 11). It is used to prepare aliphatic polyamides with good chemical resistance, low moisture uptake, and flexibility. The resulting polymers find applications in engineering plastics and coatings, including automotive hoses and tubing, pneumatic lines, and electrical cable insulation; protective coatings and barrier films; and medical tubing and components due to the biocompatibility of nylon-11. It can also serve as a building block for specialty polymer formulations and blends used in packaging requiring barrier properties. The material is used where long-chain aliphatic polyamides are advantageous, subject to local regulations and formulation limits.
