    1-Pentene (CAS 109-67-1) is a C5 alpha-olefin primarily used as a monomer in polyolefin production, acting as a comonomer to tailor the properties of polyethylene grades, including LLDPE and other copolymers. It also serves as a building block for downstream chemicals via hydroformylation (oxo process) and subsequent hydrogenation to give aldehydes and alcohols, as well as related products used in lubricants, plasticizers, and surfactant precursors. It can be polymerized to poly(1-pentene), a crystalline polymer employed in specialty applications that require higher temperature performance and stiffness. Additionally, 1-Pentene provides a chemical building block for the synthesis of other specialty olefins and intermediates for coatings and adhesives.
