Applications
1-p-Menthen-9-yl acetate (CAS 17916-91-5) is a monoterpene acetate used mainly in fragrance and flavor applications: it reinforces, rounds and softens fresh minty, citrus and green-herbal facets in fine fragrances, deodorants, personal care, household cleaners, candles and air-care; in flavors it is dosed at very low levels in confectionery, chewing gum, beverages and dairy to add freshness, mask bitterness and enhance aroma persistence; it is also employed as a synthetic intermediate to access p-menthane derivatives and as a reference standard for GC–MS profiling of monoterpene-rich essential oils; practical use calls for attention to stability and storage (cool, airtight, protected from light/oxygen, optionally with antioxidants), formulation compatibility, and compliance with applicable safety and regulatory frameworks (e.g., IFRA, food-use and labeling requirements).
