  • Applications

    1-Monomethylol-5,5-dimethylhydantoin (CAS 116-25-6) is mainly used as an intermediate in the synthesis of hydantoin derivatives carrying a methylol group, notably those developed as formaldehyde-releasing preservatives for cosmetics, personal care products, and household formulations. It is also used as a precursor in the manufacture of resins, coatings, adhesives, and other polymer systems where the methylol functionality enables crosslinking or controlled formaldehyde release during processing.
