  • Applications

1-Methyl-4-(1-methylvinyl)cyclohexan-1-ol (CAS 7299-40-3) is a versatile monoterpenoid alcohol used mainly as a fragrance ingredient in perfumes, personal care, deodorants, and household products due to its fresh terpenic character (citrus–woody–herbal) and its ability to round, fix, or enhance the diffusion of other notes; at trace levels it can also serve as a flavor modifier in beverages, confectionery, and food flavors where permitted; chemically, the alcohol and isopropenyl functions enable esterification, etherification, epoxidation, or hydroformylation to produce fruity esters, actives, and synthetic intermediates, and they allow polymer grafting or resin modification to make functional monomers/modifiers; it is additionally employed as a solvent/co-solvent and aroma solubilizer in waterborne paints, inks, coatings, and industrial cleaners to improve solubility and evaporation profile, and has been investigated as an antimicrobial/antifungal booster or insect-repellent aid in hygiene and crop-protection formulations, with actual uses subject to safety assessment and local regulations.
