1-Decene, 1-methoxy- (CAS 79930-37-3) is a vinyl ether used as a monomer for cationic polymerization to produce poly(vinyl ether) and copolymers for coatings, sealants, and specialty adhesives. It is employed as a reactive diluent in UV-curable coatings and inks to adjust viscosity and to participate in the cured network. It also serves as an industrial intermediate for the synthesis of specialty polymers and functional additives used in plastics and coatings, and as a co-monomer to tailor mechanical and thermal properties of polymer formulations when combined with other monomers.
