Applications
1-Cyclohexene-1-methanol, alpha,alpha,4-trimethyl- (CAS 18479-65-7) is a tertiary terpene alcohol with an allylic double bond used as a fragrance raw material for fine fragrance, personal care and household products (woody–herbal–citrus facets, improved diffusion and substantivity), as a trace flavor ingredient where allowed, as a pleasant-odor solvent/coupling agent for inks, coatings and cleaners, and as a versatile synthesis intermediate for esterification, etherification, epoxidation or conversion to carbonate/urethane derivatives to produce fixatives, surfactants and reactive diluents for resins, coatings and adhesives; in agrochemical and materials research it also serves as a building block for terpenoid derivatives and has been explored for antimicrobial, insect-repellent and antioxidant behavior typical of terpene alcohols, with use subject to applicable regulations.
