    Palustrol (CAS 5986-49-2) là một sesquiterpen rượu có nguồn gốc tự nhiên, được phát hiện trong tinh dầu cây Ledum palustre (Rhododendron tomentosum, còn gọi là trà Labrador) và một số loài thực vật thơm khác; trong thực hành công nghiệp, hợp chất này chủ yếu được dùng làm thành phần hương trong nước hoa, sản phẩm chăm sóc cá nhân và nến thơm nhờ sắc thái mộc, thảo mộc và độ lưu hương tốt, đồng thời đóng vai trò chất chỉ thị/chuẩn tham chiếu trong kiểm nghiệm GC–MS để định lượng và đảm bảo chất lượng tinh dầu, là đầu chất cho chuyển hoá bán tổng hợp và nghiên cứu cấu trúc–hoạt tính của sesquiterpen, và là đối tượng khảo sát trong các nghiên cứu tiền lâm sàng (in vitro/in vivo) về khả năng kháng vi sinh vật, chống viêm, chống oxy hoá và xua đuổi côn trùng cũng như trong công nghệ bào chế (nhũ hoá, vi bao, bao gói cyclodextrin) nhằm cải thiện độ tan và độ ổn định bay hơi; ngoài ra, palustrol còn được dùng trong hoá thực vật và hoá sinh thái như một dấu ấn hoá học để giám định nguồn gốc thực vật và đánh giá biến thiên hoá học theo vùng trồng, mùa vụ và điều kiện bảo quản, với việc sử dụng tuân thủ khuyến nghị an toàn và quy chuẩn hương liệu hiện hành.
