    Heptacosane (CAS 593-49-7) là ankan mạch thẳng C27 được dùng chủ yếu làm chuẩn tham chiếu/chuẩn nội trong sắc ký khí để hiệu chuẩn chỉ số lưu giữ (Kovats), lập hồ sơ phân bố n-ankan và đường chưng cất mô phỏng; được khai thác như vật liệu chuyển pha tích trữ năng lượng nhờ điểm nóng chảy khoảng 59–61 °C (kể cả dạng vi bao PCM); làm hợp chất mô hình trong nghiên cứu kết tinh, hình thái và tính chất nhiệt-cơ của parafin chuỗi dài cũng như quá trình phân hủy sinh học hydrocarbon; đồng thời là thành phần đặc trưng của sáp thực vật, sáp ong và hydrocarbon biểu bì côn trùng, phục vụ truy nguồn mẫu, hóa phân loại, nghiên cứu pheromone/hành vi và kiểm soát chất lượng parafin công nghiệp hay đặc trưng hóa các phân đoạn dầu mỏ.
