    Geranyl isovalerate (CAS 109-20-6) là este của geraniol và acid isovaleric, có mùi thơm trái cây-hoa hồng nhẹ và độ ổn định oxy hóa cao, vì thế được ngành hương liệu, thực phẩm, mỹ phẩm và nông nghiệp đánh giá cao; hợp chất này được dùng làm thành phần hương chính hoặc hỗ trợ trong nước hoa cao cấp, xịt phòng, nến thơm, xà phòng, chất tẩy rửa, chất khử mùi để tạo tông trái cây nhiệt đới, cam quýt, hoa hồng; trong công nghiệp thực phẩm nó được chuẩn FEMA và IFRA công nhận làm chất tạo hương cho kẹo, đồ uống không cồn, chewing gum, bánh nướng, sữa lên men, đồng thời hoạt động như chất điều vị che lấp mùi khó chịu của protein, vitamin hay dược liệu; trong nông nghiệp geranyl isovalerate được pha thành mồi dẫn dụ ruồi đục trái và một số côn trùng khác nhằm hỗ trợ kiểm soát dịch hại sinh học; ở lĩnh vực tinh dầu thiên nhiên, nó đóng vai trò dung môi mang hương giúp ổn định và tăng cường độ khuếch tán của tinh dầu lavender, ylang-ylang, rose; dược điển châu Âu còn ghi nhận đây là tiền chất tổng hợp dẫn xuất terpene có hoạt tính kháng khuẩn, chống viêm, chống oxy hóa, đồng thời là chỉ thị hương trong đánh giá chất lượng tinh dầu citral, từ đó mở rộng ứng dụng trong mỹ phẩm thiên nhiên, sản phẩm chăm sóc da, xoa bóp thư giãn và liệu pháp mùi.
