    Anisyl alcohol (tên khoa học p-methoxybenzyl alcohol), số CAS 105-13-5, là một thành phần hương liệu đa năng mang mùi ngọt dịu, phấn hoa, hơi lê nên được dùng rộng rãi làm chất điều hương trong nước hoa cao cấp, xịt khử mùi, nến thơm, sáp thơm và các sản phẩm chăm sóc cá nhân như kem dưỡng, dầu gội, sữa tắm, son dưỡng; trong lĩnh vực tẩy rửa gia dụng, nó tạo hương dễ chịu cho xà phòng, bột giặt, nước rửa chén, nước xả vải và bền vững trong môi trường kiềm giúp mùi lưu lại sau khi giặt; trong công nghiệp thực phẩm, anisyl alcohol được phép dùng làm phụ gia tạo hương trái cây và vani cho kẹo, đồ uống, bánh kẹo ở hàm lượng kiểm soát; ngoài ra, nó còn là tiền chất tổng hợp anisaldehyde, anisic acid, thuốc nhuộm, thuốc bảo vệ thực vật, dược phẩm và đóng vai trò chất cố định (fixative) kéo dài độ khuếch tán tinh dầu tự nhiên; với độ hoà tan tốt, độc tính thấp và đáp ứng tiêu chuẩn IFRA, EU, hợp chất này dễ phối hợp trong nhiều nền công thức, trở thành mắt xích quan trọng của chuỗi giá trị hương liệu – mỹ phẩm hiện đại.
