    α-Ionone (CAS 127-41-3) được sử dụng rộng rãi như một thành phần tạo hương chủ lực trong công nghiệp nước hoa cao cấp, xà phòng, chất tẩy rửa và mỹ phẩm nhờ mùi thơm hoa tím, quả mọng và gỗ nhẹ đặc trưng; trong ngành thực phẩm, nó được dùng làm chất tạo hương cho kẹo, đồ uống, sữa chua, bánh nướng và sản phẩm thay thế thịt để tái hiện các sắc thái hương quả chín tự nhiên; trong thuốc lá và shisha, α-Ionone mang lại hậu vị ngọt dịu, giảm mùi khói gắt; trong sản xuất hương liệu tinh dầu và nến thơm, nó đóng vai trò nốt trung gian giúp cố định và kéo dài mùi; đồng thời là nguyên liệu trung gian để tổng hợp vitamin A, carotenoid và dẫn xuất terpenoid khác trong dược phẩm, thức ăn chăn nuôi giàu dinh dưỡng và phụ gia thức ăn thủy sản; cuối cùng, α-Ionone còn được ứng dụng trong nghiên cứu cảm biến mùi sinh học và công nghệ mũi điện tử nhờ hồ sơ mùi đặc trưng, ổn định và an toàn.
