    alpha-Cedrene (CAS 469-61-4) là sesquiterpen hydrocarbon chủ đạo của tinh dầu gỗ tuyết tùng, mang tông gỗ ấm, khô và nhựa, được dùng rộng rãi làm nguyên liệu hương trong nước hoa mịn, mỹ phẩm, chăm sóc cá nhân, xà phòng, chất tẩy rửa, sản phẩm khử mùi không khí (nến, sáp thơm, que khuếch tán) và đồ chăm sóc ô tô để tạo độ sâu, độ bền mùi và xây dựng các hợp hương woody–amber–chypre–leather; đôi khi còn dùng ở liều rất thấp như chất điều vị cho các hệ hương thực phẩm để gợi sắc thái gỗ/cedar theo giới hạn pháp lý; là thành phần hoạt tính hương của tinh dầu tuyết tùng trong các chế phẩm xua đuổi côn trùng (bọ chét, ve, bướm đêm, muỗi) áp dụng cho vật nuôi, tủ quần áo, dệt may xử lý và túi thơm; được khai thác trong nghiên cứu và công nghiệp như nguyên liệu nền/tiền chất tổng hợp terpen, chất chuẩn GC/GC‑MS và chỉ số lưu giữ để kiểm soát chất lượng, truy xuất nguồn gốc và phát hiện pha trộn tinh dầu; hữu ích trong vi bao/khống chế phát thải hương, masterbatch hương cho nhựa, chất đánh bóng/ chăm sóc gỗ để tạo mùi cedar và hỗ trợ xua côn trùng; nhìn chung sử dụng an toàn khi tuân thủ IFRA và quy định liên quan, cần đánh giá dị ứng hương liệu, tính dễ cháy và ổn định oxy hóa trong công thức; các hoạt tính sinh học (kháng khuẩn, xua côn trùng, v.v.) chủ yếu được ghi nhận ở mức in vitro/in vivo hạn chế và không thay thế chỉ định y tế.
