    2-Furanmethanol, 5-ethenyltetrahydro-alpha,alpha,5-trimethyl-, (2R,5R)-rel- (CAS 34995-77-2) là một alcol furanyl bậc một có vòng tetrahydrofuran thế ethenyl và cặp gem-đimetyl tạo khung terpenoid kỵ nước có tính đối quang; trong thực hành, chất này thường được khai thác như: (i) nguyên liệu trung gian hương–vị để xây dựng ester, carbonate, ether, acetal và để khảo sát ảnh hưởng lập thể lên cảm nhận mùi; (ii) khối xây dựng tổng hợp trong dược–nông hoá, nơi –CH2OH và nối đôi có thể được chức hoá (acyl hoá, alkyl hoá, epoxid hoá, hydroboration–oxidation, thiol–ene) nhằm tạo thư viện dẫn xuất; (iii) monome hoặc chất pha loãng phản ứng cho hệ sơn/keo đóng rắn UV hay 2K sau khi chuyển thành acrylat hoặc urethane để cải thiện độ bám dính, độ bóng và tốc độ đóng rắn; (iv) chất tham chiếu/chuẩn phân tích LC/GC–MS trong nghiên cứu sản phẩm oxy hoá terpen và ma trận hương liệu phức tạp; (v) giàn khung kỵ nước–có cực phục vụ nghiên cứu xúc tác bất đối xứng (oxy hoá chọn lọc, chuyển vị allylic, quang trùng hợp) và thiết kế chất hoạt động bề mặt chuyên dụng; (vi) tiền chất vật liệu chức năng (oligomer, nhựa, copolymer) tận dụng đồng thời nhóm alcohol và liên kết đôi để điều chỉnh mô đun, độ cứng và độ tương hợp với nền polyolefin hoặc polyester, với việc sử dụng phụ thuộc đánh giá an toàn và quy định hiện hành.
