    Amyl alcohol (rượu amyl, CAS 71-41-0) là một loại rượu bậc một có mùi đặc trưng được ứng dụng rộng rãi trong công nghiệp hương liệu ‒ thực phẩm nhờ khả năng tạo mùi trái cây nhẹ, trong sản xuất dung môi hòa tan nhựa, sơn, mực in, chất kết dính và vecni do độ bay hơi trung bình, trong tổng hợp các este isoamyl như isoamyl acetate, isoamyl butyrate để tạo hương chuối, lê, táo, dứa cho kẹo, nước giải khát, tinh dầu và mỹ phẩm, trong dược phẩm để điều chế tá dược, chất khử trùng và phụ gia tiêm, trong ngành tẩy rửa kim loại và gia dụng làm chất hoạt động bề mặt, trong dầu cắt gọt và chất bôi trơn nhờ khả năng cải thiện tính trơn trượt và giảm ma sát, trong chế biến cao su và polymer làm chất điều chỉnh độ dẻo, trong công nghệ chiết xuất và sắc ký như chất đẩy pha, trong tổng hợp thuốc trừ sâu, thuốc nhuộm, chất hóa dẻo, phụ gia nhiên liệu nhằm nâng chỉ số octan, trong phân tích hóa học làm chuẩn vi chất, đồng thời được nghiên cứu như tác nhân ổn định sinh học cho enzyme và protein, chứng tỏ tầm quan trọng đa lĩnh vực của hợp chất này.
