    1-(p-Methoxyphenyl)-2-propanone (còn gọi là 1-(4-methoxyphenyl)-2-propanone, p-anisylacetone; CAS 122-84-9) là một trung gian hữu cơ đa dụng trong hóa chất tinh khiết, thường được dùng làm khối xây dựng để tạo các khung p-methoxyphenyl thông qua các biến đổi tiêu chuẩn như khử chọn lọc thành alcohol bậc hai, amination khử để thu amine thơm bậc cao, phản ứng Wittig/Horner–Wadsworth–Emmons và ngưng tụ Claisen–Schmidt để tạo enone/chalcone rồi tiếp tục vòng hóa thành pyrazoline, isoxazole, coumarin và các dị vòng khác phục vụ nghiên cứu dược phẩm, nông dược và vật liệu; đồng thời, chất này còn được dùng làm chất chuẩn phân tích và nền mô hình cho nghiên cứu xúc tác (hydrogenation chuyển, oxy hóa Baeyer–Villiger, halogen hóa/alkyl hóa ở vị trí α) và động học phản ứng của ketone aryl–alkyl, trong khi các mô-típ mùi thơm p-anisyl liên quan góp phần phát triển hương liệu–mùi; tại một số quốc gia, hợp chất và một số biến đổi liên quan có thể chịu quản lý do nguy cơ bị lạm dụng, vì vậy việc mua bán và sử dụng cần tuân thủ các yêu cầu pháp lý và an toàn hóa chất hiện hành.
