Applications
Cyclopentanes (CAS 287-92-3) are primarily used as blowing agents for polyurethane foams used in insulation and appliance casings, and as nonpolar solvents in industrial cleaning and processing. They also serve as a feedstock for the synthesis of cyclopentyl-containing compounds, including dehydrogenation to cyclopentene and various cyclopentyl derivatives. Additionally, they are used as processing solvents in certain coatings and adhesives systems with nonpolar resins.
