    Calcium dithionite (CAS 15512-36-4) is used primarily as a strong reducing agent and bleaching agent in industrial processing related to natural fibers and paper, notably for bleaching and brightening cellulose in textile and pulp-and-paper operations. It is employed to decolorize color in dye-containing effluents from textile and paper processes.
