Applications
Bromoform (CAS 75-25-2) is primarily used as an intermediate in organic synthesis to introduce the tribromomethyl group into target molecules. It also serves as a nonpolar solvent or reaction medium in certain industrial processes and as a feedstock for the manufacture of brominated specialty chemicals. In addition, it is employed as a high-density solvent for separations or extractions of nonpolar materials, and may be used as a reagent in bromination steps in polymer or pharmaceutical manufacturing when handled under appropriate controls and regulations.
