Applications
1-p-Menthen-9-al (CAS 29548-14-9) is a monoterpenoid aldehyde used across fragrance, flavor, and synthesis: in fine fragrances and personal/home care it serves as a fresh green, minty–citrus, slightly woody top note that boosts diffusion, rounds citrus/herbal accords, and aids malodor masking in soaps, shampoos, detergents, candles, and air care; in flavors it contributes minty–herbal and citrus-peel nuances to confectionery, chewing gum, beverages, and oral-care products; in aroma chemistry its reactive aldehyde enables formation of oximes/imines and acetals, and reduction/oxidation to access p-menthane derivatives for tone adjustment, making it a useful intermediate in terpenoid synthesis; in R&D it is employed as an analytical reference (GC–MS), for sensory training, and structure–odor studies; handle as a typical aldehyde—prone to oxidation and base—using antioxidants, tight packaging, cool storage, and adhering to dose and IFRA/food limits appropriate to the application matrix.
