    (Z)-Tagetenone (CAS 33746-71-3) là một monoterpen keton tự nhiên đặc trưng của tinh dầu Tagetes (cúc vạn thọ) với hương xanh tươi, thảo mộc, trái cây và sắc thái “marigold–citrus”, được ứng dụng chủ yếu trong hương liệu để xây dựng các accord lá non, marigold, trà, cam chanh và cà chua, tăng độ chân thực cho mùi trái cây nhiệt đới; đôi khi dùng ở liều rất thấp trong tạo hương thực phẩm để hiệu chỉnh nốt xanh và “overripe” của xoài, chanh dây hay ổi; được nghiên cứu như thành phần sinh học trong bảo vệ thực vật từ Tagetes (xua đuổi/ức chế côn trùng, nấm và tuyến trùng) cho các giải pháp xông sinh học; dùng làm chất đánh dấu/chuẩn tham chiếu trong kiểm nghiệm GC–MS để định danh, chuẩn hóa tinh dầu Tagetes và đào tạo cảm quan; đồng thời là chất nền hữu ích cho nghiên cứu phản ứng xúc tác, biến đổi chọn lọc lập thể và tổng hợp dẫn xuất terpenoid; do hoạt tính mùi mạnh và dễ oxy hóa, thường được dùng rất thấp và bảo quản kín, mát, tránh sáng.
