    Viridiflorene (CAS 21747-46-6) là một sesquiterpen hydrocarbon hiện diện trong nhiều tinh dầu thực vật; trong thực tiễn, hợp chất này chủ yếu được dùng làm chất chuẩn/đối chiếu trong GC-MS/GC-FID để định tính, định lượng và kiểm soát chất lượng tinh dầu, hương liệu và dược liệu; là thành phần mùi đóng góp sắc thái gỗ, nhựa, xanh thảo hỗ trợ pha chế nước hoa, mỹ phẩm và sản phẩm chăm sóc cá nhân; là hợp chất mô hình cho nghiên cứu sinh học và hóa học (sinh tổng hợp terpen, chuyển hóa, sinh thái hóa học) cũng như tối ưu hóa quy trình chiết tách và tinh chế; đồng thời được khảo sát về hoạt tính kháng vi sinh vật, chống oxy hóa và xua đuổi côn trùng nhằm định hướng ứng dụng trong bảo quản, nông nghiệp và vật liệu sinh học; và đóng vai trò chỉ thị hóa học cho phân loại hóa thực vật, truy xuất nguồn gốc, đánh giá biến thiên địa lý–mùa vụ, cũng như chất đánh dấu mùi/độ bay hơi trong nghiên cứu cảm quan và khuếch tán hương.
