    Sedanolide (CAS 6415-59-4) là một phthalide mùi cần tây xuất hiện tự nhiên trong hạt cần tây và lovage, được ứng dụng rộng rãi làm chất tạo hương cho thực phẩm và đồ uống nhằm bổ sung nốt cần tây/lovage đặc trưng cùng sắc thái xanh, thảo mộc và hơi cay cho súp, nước dùng, nước sốt, đồ ăn nhẹ mặn, gia vị, thịt chay, nước ép cà chua và cocktail mặn; trong công nghiệp hương liệu–nước hoa, nó được dùng để xây dựng các accord “green–vegetal”, bouillon hay gia vị trong xà phòng, chất tẩy rửa và sản phẩm chăm sóc cá nhân; trong phân tích và kiểm soát chất lượng, nó đóng vai trò chất chuẩn/marker cảm quan của dầu hạt cần tây, hỗ trợ nhận diện hồ sơ hương, thẩm định nguyên liệu và nghiên cứu ngưỡng mùi–đồng phân; ngoài ra, ở quy mô R&D, sedanolide còn là khối xây dựng hữu ích cho tổng hợp các dẫn xuất phthalide liên quan và là mô hình trong các nghiên cứu ổn định hương dưới tác động của nhiệt, ánh sáng và ma trận thực phẩm.
