    Propylene glycol (PG, Propan-1,2-diol, CAS 57-55-6) là chất lỏng trong suốt, không mùi, hút ẩm, tan hoàn toàn trong nước, được ứng dụng rộng rãi làm dung môi và chất giữ ẩm trong mỹ phẩm, sản phẩm chăm sóc cá nhân, tá dược cho thuốc tiêm, siro và thuốc mỡ, phụ gia thực phẩm E1520 giúp giữ ẩm, cố định hương vị và kết cấu, thành phần chính của dung dịch thuốc lá điện tử, chất chống đông và môi chất truyền nhiệt cho hệ thống HVAC, dung dịch khử băng máy bay, chất mang hương liệu, dung môi cho mực in, sơn, nhựa, chất tẩy rửa, chất bôi trơn, cũng như trong công nghiệp dệt, thuộc da và sản xuất nhựa polyester không bão hòa; với độc tính thấp, khả năng phân hủy sinh học và được FDA công nhận an toàn trong phạm vi cho phép, PG trở thành vật liệu đa năng giúp nâng cao độ bền, an toàn và hiệu quả của nhiều sản phẩm tiêu dùng lẫn công nghiệp.
