    Piperitol (CAS 491-04-3) là một monoterpenoid alcohol có mùi thảo mộc–bạc hà hơi cay, được ứng dụng chủ yếu trong lĩnh vực hương liệu và gia vị để tạo hoặc tinh chỉnh sắc thái minty/green trong nước hoa, nến, sản phẩm chăm sóc cá nhân và hương thực phẩm; trong hóa học hương liệu như một trung gian để tổng hợp các chất thơm terpenoid liên quan và làm chất điều biến mùi ở nồng độ vết; trong phân tích tinh dầu như chất chuẩn tham chiếu và chất đánh dấu cho hiệu chuẩn phương pháp GC-MS, hồ sơ hóa học lô sản xuất và nghiên cứu hóa phân loại nguyên liệu Mentha; trong R&D dược–sinh học như một khung cấu trúc tự nhiên để sàng lọc in vitro các hoạt tính kháng vi sinh, chống oxy hóa và xua côn trùng, đồng thời được khai thác như khối xây dựng bất đối xứng trong tổng hợp hữu cơ quy mô phòng thí nghiệm; ngoài ra còn được cân nhắc trong hệ mang giải phóng có kiểm soát và vi nang hóa nhằm tăng độ bền mùi trong ma trận tiêu dùng, với yêu cầu tuân thủ đánh giá an toàn IFRA và các giới hạn sử dụng theo quy định thực phẩm–mỹ phẩm địa phương.
