    Pentadecanal (CAS 2765-11-9) là một aldehyde béo mạch thẳng C15 được ứng dụng chủ yếu như khối xây dựng trong tổng hợp hữu cơ: làm tiền chất để khử về pentadecanol hoặc oxy hóa thành axit pentadecanoic rồi biến đổi tiếp thành amide/ester phục vụ sản xuất chất hoạt động bề mặt, phụ gia dầu nhờn và vật liệu phủ kỵ nước; tác nhân tạo imine/oxime và acetal nhằm tinh chỉnh độ bay hơi, nét mùi và độ bền mùi trong phối liệu nước hoa, xà phòng và sản phẩm chăm sóc cá nhân ở hàm lượng vết; chất chuẩn/chuẩn nội cho phát triển phương pháp GC/GC-MS dãy alkanal mạch dài, nghiên cứu cơ chế oxy hóa–khử xúc tác và đánh giá hoạt tính enzyme chuyển hóa aldehyde béo; nguyên liệu khởi đầu điều chỉnh chiều dài mạch trong các lộ trình bán tổng hợp trung gian hương liệu và một số bán hóa chất dẫn dụ côn trùng; đồng thời là “tay nắm” chức aldehyde để biến tính bề mặt (liên kết Schiff với polyme, vật liệu xốp hoặc hạt nano) nhằm tạo kỵ nước và cải thiện tương hợp với ma trận hữu cơ trong nghiên cứu vật liệu.
