    p-MENTHAN-8-OL (CAS 498-81-7) là một monoterpenoid alcohol có mùi tươi mát, thảo mộc–gỗ, được dùng rộng rãi làm thành phần hương trong nước hoa, mỹ phẩm, dầu gội/xà phòng, chất tẩy rửa và sản phẩm khử mùi để tạo nốt hương sạch, làm tròn, cố định và che mùi; làm chất điều vị ở mức vi lượng trong thực phẩm–đồ uống với sắc thái bạc hà/cam quýt–thảo mộc; là dung môi/đồng dung môi và chất hòa tan cho tinh dầu/hoạt chất kỵ nước trong công thức chăm sóc nhà cửa và cá nhân; là trung gian tổng hợp cho các ester/acetat menthyl và dẫn xuất terpene khác dùng trong hương liệu; được khảo sát về tác dụng kháng vi sinh, xua côn trùng và tăng thấm da, do đó xuất hiện trong một số công thức xịt phòng, vệ sinh bề mặt và sản phẩm bôi ngoài; đồng thời làm chất mang hương cho vật liệu thơm như nến và polymer tỏa hương.
