    Nonacosane (CAS 630-03-5) là alkane mạch thẳng C29 có điểm nóng chảy khoảng 63–65°C, được ứng dụng rộng rãi như chất chuẩn n-alkane trong sắc ký khí/GC–MS (thiết lập chỉ số lưu giữ Kovats, hiệu chuẩn thời gian lưu, đánh giá phân bố n-alkane trong dầu mỏ, trầm tích và sáp sinh học), công cụ địa hoá–khí hậu học để suy luận nguồn gốc vật chất hữu cơ trên cạn (đặc biệt cùng C27/C31 trong sáp lá), vật liệu tích trữ nhiệt pha rắn–lỏng nhiệt độ thấp, thành phần của sáp/paraffin trong nến, xi, chất chống thấm và phủ kỵ nước, phụ gia xử lý polyolefin làm chất bôi trơn và trợ gia công, chất mô hình nghiên cứu kết tinh, chuyển pha và “đóng băng bề mặt” ở giao diện, cũng như chất tham chiếu trong sinh thái hoá học khi khảo sát hydrocarbon biểu bì côn trùng và tương tác hoá học; tính trơ, kỵ nước và độc tính thấp giúp nó phù hợp cho các ứng dụng nghiên cứu và công nghiệp.
