    Lauryl alcohol (còn gọi là dodecanol, CAS 112-53-8) là một alcohol béo chuỗi C12 có mùi nhẹ, không màu, được ứng dụng làm nguyên liệu quan trọng để sản xuất các chất hoạt động bề mặt ethoxylat và sulfat hoá, thành phần tạo bọt và làm đặc trong xà phòng, dầu gội, sữa tắm, nước rửa chén; chất làm mềm, chất ổn định nhũ tương và chất giữ ẩm trong mỹ phẩm, kem dưỡng, son môi; dung môi hoặc chất trung gian tổng hợp este trong chất làm dẻo, hương liệu, chất bôi trơn, mực in; chất bôi trơn khô và chất chống tĩnh điện cho ngành dệt sợi; tác nhân gia công kim loại, phụ gia dầu nhờn, chất bôi trơn gia công nhựa; chất mang trong thuốc bảo vệ thực vật và phụ gia trong công thức thuốc thú y, dược phẩm; đồng thời được ứng dụng trong sản xuất nến sinh học, chất hoạt hóa bề mặt cho khoan dầu khí, xử lý giấy và các quy trình công nghiệp cần đặc tính khử bọt, phân tán hoặc kiểm soát độ nhớt.
