    Ethyl decanoate (CAS 110-38-3) là este của acid capric được đánh giá cao trong nhiều lĩnh vực nhờ hương thơm trái cây mềm mại đặc trưng, xuất hiện tự nhiên trong rượu vang, bia và đồ uống lên men, vì vậy nó được dùng làm chất tạo hương cho nước giải khát, kẹo, sản phẩm sữa, trái cây đóng hộp và nước chấm; trong ngành rượu vang, hàm lượng của hợp chất này còn được sử dụng như chỉ thị đánh giá chất lượng và giai đoạn ủ nhằm tối ưu hóa quá trình lên men, cải thiện bouquet cho các loại vang cao cấp; trong mỹ phẩm, ethyl decanoate đóng vai trò chất điều hương và dung môi cho nước hoa, kem dưỡng da, dầu gội, đem lại cảm giác ấm và sạch; với độ hòa tan tốt trong dầu mỡ và độc tính thấp, nó còn được áp dụng như chất hóa dẻo và chất mang trong thuốc thú y, dung môi chiết tách các hợp chất thơm tự nhiên, đồng thời được nghiên cứu như thành phần biodiesel giúp cải thiện tính lưu biến cho nhiên liệu sinh học.
