    Cyclohexene, 4-ethenyl-4-methyl-3-(1-methylethenyl)-1-(1-methylethyl)-, (3R-trans)- (CAS 20307-84-0) là một sesquiterpene C15 dạng cyclohexen giàu liên kết đôi, thường xuất hiện ở hàm lượng vi lượng trong tinh dầu thực vật; trong thực tiễn, hợp chất này chủ yếu được ứng dụng như chất chuẩn tham chiếu cho GC–MS/GC×GC và metabolomics để định danh/dấu vân tay tinh dầu và kiểm soát chất lượng nguyên liệu hương liệu, là cơ chất nghiên cứu phản ứng (ví dụ epoxit hóa, hydroborat–oxy hóa, halohydrin/ozonolysis, hydro hóa chọn lọc) nhằm tạo dẫn xuất sesquiterpene chức hóa phục vụ tổng hợp chất thơm, trung gian dược phẩm và vật liệu, là chất mùi mô hình trong hóa học hương để khảo sát nốt gỗ–nhựa, độ bền mùi và tương tác ma trận khi thiết kế blend hương thiên nhiên, là chất tham chiếu sinh thái–hóa học khi nghiên cứu hợp chất bay hơi của thực vật/côn trùng và biến đổi sau thu hoạch, và là mục tiêu sàng lọc hoạt tính ở giai đoạn khám phá (kháng oxy hóa, kháng vi sinh, xua đuổi côn trùng) trong phạm vi R&D, đồng thời có thể được khảo sát như tiền chất cho nhựa/phủ sau khi chức hóa; lưu ý không dùng trực tiếp cho người hoặc thực phẩm khi chưa thẩm định an toàn, và cần thao tác trong điều kiện phòng thí nghiệm kiểm soát theo quy định hóa chất hiện hành.
