    Carvacryl methyl ether (CAS 6379-73-3) được sử dụng chủ yếu làm thành phần hương - liệu mang sắc thái thảo mộc, ấm, cay kiểu oregano/thyme trong nước hoa, chất khử mùi, xà phòng, chất tẩy rửa, nến và, khi được phép, trong thực phẩm (gia vị mặn, thịt chế biến, snack, súp, đồ uống); đồng thời là trung gian tổng hợp linh hoạt: dạng ete O-methyl bảo vệ nhóm phenol của carvacrol để thực hiện các biến đổi chọn lọc rồi khử bảo vệ, là nguyên liệu xây dựng các dẫn xuất terpene, ứng viên dược và nông hoá (kháng khuẩn, kháng nấm, xua côn trùng) và phụ gia chức năng; trong nghiên cứu - kiểm nghiệm, hợp chất này dùng như chất chuẩn hoặc chuẩn nội cho GC/GC-MS, mô hình cho phản ứng O-khử methyl hoá, oxy hoá và thế điện tử thơm của ete vòng benzen, cũng như thành phần mùi hoạt tính trong hệ vi bao hoặc giải phóng có kiểm soát cho bao bì chủ động, sơn phủ, chất làm sạch và sản phẩm khử mùi không gian; việc sử dụng cần tuân thủ giới hạn an toàn, tiêu chuẩn IFRA/thực phẩm và quy định địa phương.
