    Butylated Hydroxytoluene (BHT, CAS 128-37-0) là một chất chống oxy hóa phenolic phá vỡ chuỗi, được dùng rộng rãi để ức chế quá trình ôi khét và suy giảm do oxy hóa trong lipid, từ đó kéo dài thời hạn sử dụng và duy trì chất lượng sản phẩm; trong thực phẩm (phụ gia E321) và thức ăn chăn nuôi, BHT bảo vệ dầu ăn, ngũ cốc ăn liền, snack, bơ thực vật và premix vitamin ở mức sử dụng được quy định; trong mỹ phẩm/chăm sóc cá nhân, nó ổn định hương liệu và dầu trong kem dưỡng, son môi, kem chống nắng; trong dược phẩm, BHT ổn định vitamin A, E, retinoid và các công thức viên/thuốc mỡ nhạy oxy; trong công nghiệp, nó làm chất ổn định cho nhựa, cao su, keo, mực in, vật liệu bao bì, đồng thời ngăn phân hủy oxy hóa trong nhiên liệu, dầu bôi trơn, chất lỏng thủy lực, biodiesel và ức chế tạo peroxide trong dung môi hữu cơ lưu trữ; thường phối hợp hiệp đồng với BHA, propyl gallate hoặc acid citric để tăng hiệu quả.
