    Bicyclo(3.1.0)hexan-2-one, 5-(1-methylethyl)- (CAS 513-20-2) là một keton hai vòng có ứng suất vòng đáng kể, thường được dùng làm nguyên liệu trung gian chuyên dụng trong tổng hợp hữu cơ để cài cắm khung cứng kỵ nước và thực hiện các biến đổi như khử/oxy hóa, mở vòng có kiểm soát và mở rộng vòng (ví dụ Baeyer–Villiger) nhằm truy cập lacton, rượu và amin bậc hai; làm chất nền mô hình để khảo sát cơ chế và điều khiển lập thể của phản ứng enolat và cộng nucleophile lên keton căng; đóng vai trò khối xây dựng trong khám phá dược chất và nông dược khi đánh giá ảnh hưởng của mô-típ hai vòng lên tính thấm, độ bền chuyển hóa và chọn lọc đích; được khai thác trong nghiên cứu hương liệu–thực phẩm để phát triển dẫn xuất mùi theo kiểu keton hai vòng hoặc làm chất điều biến sắc thái mùi, đồng thời dùng làm chất chuẩn/chuẩn đối chiếu trong phát triển phương pháp sắc ký (GC/GC-MS), hiệu chuẩn chỉ số lưu giữ và kiểm soát chất lượng cho các dẫn xuất liên quan; ngoài ra đôi khi được dùng để đưa mô-típ cứng vào phụ gia hoặc tiền chất vật liệu ở quy mô nghiên cứu nhằm điều chỉnh một số tính chất vật lý.
